Overview
Our mission is to facilitate studies requiring the use of high-risk pathogens by the Principle Investigator (PI). Providing a full-service high containment (BSL-3), a satellite rodent containment vivarium (ABSL-3), and arthropod vector (ACL-3) laboratory space. We support and maintain the high containment facility and administer monthly recharge rates.
We provide a full-service state-of-the-art laboratory located in the J. Bennett Johnston Building at Tulane University. The facility consists of approximately 1,100 sq. ft. of dedicated laboratories: a conventional laboratory (Suite 1), and a cell culture room (Suite 2) designed for Biosafety Level 3, along with an arthropod manipulation suite (ACL-3).
All equipment is under service contracts and maintained by Core facility staff. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided at cost.
All Tulane employees and visitors must be enrolled in the Occupational Health Medical Surveillance Program.
The Office of Biosafety administers all training requirements which are based on the individual’s specific job duties and exposure risk. Classroom and hands-on training customized to your specific requirements.
