Peptide Compositions and Methods to Treat Herpesvirus Infections

Background

Tulane University is actively seeking commercial entities to further develop and commercialize peptide compositions to prevent and treat herpesvirus infections in humans and animals.

Applications

Peptide compositions may be used to prevent and treat herpesvirus infections, including Herpes Simplex Virus-1 and Human Cytomegalovirus. Peptides may be used alone or in conjunction with other antiviral agents. Peptides inhibit viral entry, thus preventing lifelong latency of herpesviruses. Peptides may be used in subjects that are immunocompromised and thus not suitable for current antiviral treatments. Peptides may be used in pregnant women to inhibit vertical transmission of herpesviruses from mother to fetus.

Current Work

This technology has been tested extensively in the lab with success using several different peptide compositions.
