Mosquito Trap with Chemical Attractant to Reduce Mosquito Population

Background

Tulane University is actively seeking commercial entities to further develop and commercialize a passive mosquito trap and chemical attractant.

Applications

A mosquito trap has been developed that attracts egg-laying mosquitoes to lay their eggs within a trap. The trap also contains an insecticidal net which then kills the adult mosquito. The trap is simple and passive and only needs to be maintained every 2-3 months. The trap was developed to combat Dengue and other vector-borne diseases.

Current Work

The technology has been extensively tested in the lab. Additionally, the mosquito trap has undergone iterative development in the field including a pilot test in Peru.
