Compositions and Methods for Treating Obesity and Diabetes

Background

Tulane University is actively seeking commercial entities to further develop and commercialize glyceollins to treat obesity, diabetes, and related conditions.

Applications

Prevention and treatment of obesity and hyperlipidemia. Prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and syndromes related to obesity and hyperlipidemia. Prevention, treatment, and management of diabetes via stimulation of glucose uptakeAdvantages. Lowers total cholesterol, low and very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Produced via elicited soy. May be administered as a dietary supplement, food additive, food ingredient, functional food, nutraceutical, or drug. Upregulates genes functioning as cholesterol efflux pumps, thus providing protection against obesity and obesity-related syndromes

Current Work

This technology has been tested extensively in the lab and in nonhuman primate models, successfully demonstrating metabolic changes through blood-borne biomarkers, organ biopsies, and gene regulation.
